Tips for Thanksgiving Meal Planning
- Read through all of your recipes before grocery shopping! This is so important. Read through everything to make sure you have what you need before you start cooking and baking.
- Go through your menu a week before the big day! There is nothing worse than forgotten ingredients. But it’s also good planning to know how much cooking time to allow for each recipe.
- Make sure to include family favourite recipes in your Thanksgiving menu plan. Everyone loves tradition.
- There’s no need to get too fancy! Again, Thanksgiving is about tradition and meals we all love.
- Plan out your serving dishes ahead of time. This saves so much time on the day of your dinner. Decide which dishes you want to serve in, or on which platters or in what bowls, and have them washed and ready to go.
- Plan your stove and oven strategy. Make sure all the cooking pans needed for dinner will fit on your stove at the same time. Or all the baking dishes will fit in the oven together. This is where make-ahead recipes are a time and stress saver!
- Prep ahead! Chop veggies ahead of time. Make some recipes ahead of time and just reheat on the day of dinner. The less you have to do on Thanksgiving the better.
- Ask for help. You do not need to do it all yourself. Have someone help clean, chop, stir, set the table…
