About this easy recipe:

This banana bread is moist, so delicious and a nice change from regular banana bread! The addition of quick oats to this loaf makes it hearty, but not dense, and the crumb is tender and tasty. And don’t leave out the cinnamon…it’s the perfect addition of flavour!

Perfect way to use ripe bananas!

If you’ve got ripe bananas sitting on your kitchen counter that no one will eat, this Oatmeal Banana Bread is the perfect way to use them up! No one in our home will eat brown bananas, so I’m always looking for ways to add them to baking.

Delicious for breakfast and snacking!

If there’s a loaf of banana bread, or banana muffins, in a container on the counter, it’s guaranteed to get eaten! My family loves banana bread. This loaf is hearty and perfect for breakfast, or as an afternoon snack with a cup of coffee or tea. Yum.

Oatmeal Banana Bread Recipe Tips

  • Pan Size: I use 1.5 L loaf pans (8.5 inch loaf pan).
  • Bananas: Use about 3 ripe bananas, mashed until smooth with no chunks. The total amount should be about 1 1/2 cups of mashed bananas.
  • Oats: Use quick oats for best results.
  • Milk: You can use 1, 2 or 3% milk for this recipe. You can also use a non-dairy milk like oat milk or almond milk.
  • Butter: I always use salted butter. I have also made this bread with melted coconut oil, it add a nice coconut flavour.
  • Optional Additions: Feel free to add 1/2 cup (or more) of chocolate chips, chopped walnuts or pecans.
  • Storage: This bread can be kept at room temperature in an airtight container or wrapped in aluminum foil or plastic wrap to keep it moist.
  • Freezing: This bread freezes well. Store in an airtight container or ziplock bag and freeze for up to 3 months.
