Frozen garlic cloves are so easy to use.
I started freezing garlic a few years ago after an online grocery shopping mix up when I thought I ordered 1 head of garlic, but in fact, it was a whole tray of about 100 peeled garlic cloves!! I don’t know how I mixed that up, but this ended up being such a life-changing kitchen tip haha! I just put all the garlic cloves into a freezer bag, froze them then used them up over time. It’s so handy to always have a clove of garlic on hand! And the most surprising thing to me about frozen garlic is how easy it is to slice and mince, and it keeps it’s flavour! This is something I will always do now.

Tips for Freezing Garlic
- Prep Tip: Separate the cloves from the whole head, then peel, slice off the end and freeze.
- What to freeze garlic cloves in: I like to keep whole cloves in labelled plastic freezer bags (ziplock or a reusable silicone freezer bag like the one I used). You can also use plastic or glass containers, just make sure they are airtight.
- Thawing: There is no need to thaw the garlic before using. Just use as is. It’s surprisingly easy to chop, slice and mince.
